La acción consiste en un recorrido por el norte de la ciudad de Filadelfia, durante el cual hablo a los muros con la boca pegada a cada superficie.

Como si se tratara de una plegaria, repito constantemente la frase “cavando en mí hacia ti”, con sutiles variaciones y alternando entre inglés y español, en ocasiones mezclando ambos idiomas dentro de una misma frase. En proximidad última con el muro, pronuncio la frase repetidas veces con la boca pegada a la pared. El muro amortigua las palabras, entorpeciendo el sonido y haciendo que las palabras sean absorbidas por el material, lo que dificulta su comprensión.

En cada pared permanece una mancha húmeda de saliva.

Esta video-instalación fue producida durante el primer mandato presidencial de Trump, momento en el que la palabra “muro” —“the wall”— se convirtió en un muro divisorio más poderoso que la propia división construida en la frontera.

The action consists of a journey through North Philadelphia, during which I speak to the walls with my mouth pressed against each surface.

As if it were a prayer, I repeatedly utter the phrase “cavando en mí hacia ti” (“digging into myself toward you”), with subtle variations, alternating between English and Spanish and occasionally mixing both languages within the same sentence. In the closest possible proximity to the wall, I repeat the phrase with my mouth pressed against its surface. The wall muffles the words, obstructing the sound and causing the words to be absorbed by the material, making them difficult to understand.

A wet stain of saliva remains on each wall.

This video installation was produced during Trump’s first presidential term, at a time when the word “wall”—“the wall”—became a more powerful dividing wall than the physical division constructed at the border.
